Acoustic resonance testing is a method that allows quick and inexpensive testing of a wide variety of parts. When a suitable stimulus is given to the test piece, it vibrates at certain characteristic modes and frequencies. These vibrations are a characteristic of the part and can be measured with a microphone or laser vibrometer. With the information obtained, situations such as cracks in the material, structural voids, density changes can be detected.
